(SP14) Cutting Edge Contrast Dress - Behind The Scenes

Hello everyone! I hope you’ve had a fun-filled CNY break, and are all ready to spend your ang pao money on MORE new clothes! ;) Well anyway, here are behind-the-scenes pictures from the shoot for our upcoming Cutting Edge Contrast Dress which will be launched tomorrow (26 Jan) at 8pm.

For this shoot, we headed to Antipodean. A little background on the shop - Antipodean actually stocks a mixture of Aussie and local labels and there’s a good range of clothings as well as accessories and even some homeware things! I love the shop for the unique items that they stock, and even if you don’t actually buy anything, it’s still a nice place to visit just to look at the interesting things for sale. I used to work at Antipodean on a part-time basis for quite sometime, so with my kind ex-boss’ permission, we headed to the shop to shoot for the day. :D

Our very hardworking photographer and model! Thanks for making the pictures so gorgeous. :)

I really wanted to shoot in this corner of the shop cos I loved all the colourful knickknacks! The crockery/cutlery range is actually from a Danish brand called Rice. And they do really cute colourful things! They’re relatively affordable as well, I’ve always loved their products!

Antipodean is actually located on the second floor, so we thought the staircase would be a good place to shoot at too. Love the contrast of the yellow against the midnight blue dress!

The dress also comes in a third colour, Hunter Green, which you will find on our Facebook preview album. :) I’ve been wearing this dress quite a bit cos it’s really comfortable and so easy to throw on when I can’t decide on what to wear. Our model also kept a piece for herself, so I’m sure you will love it too!

See you at our launch tomorrow babes!

(SP13) Pleats & Tiers Dress + Smarties Bookworm Cardi - Behind The Scenes

Hi girls! After a short break to spice things up with freebies and sales, we’re back with yet another collection :)

We spent an entire day on the outdoor shoot to shoot four different designs. Our first location was Antipodean at Holland Village. Shisi used to part-time there so her boss kindly agreed to let us use the place for a shoot. If you haven’t been to Antipodean before, you definitely should pay a visit! Hop on down to antipodeanshop.blogspot.com for more details. They stock really awesome stuff from Australia as well as some local stores :)

First up, the Smarties Bookworm Cardi in Jet Black! We absolutely adore the cute multi-coloured buttons that run down the front bit of the sleeves, as well as the body. The Smarties Bookworm Cardi isn’t an exclusively manufactured piece so we have really really limited pieces for this.

Here’s our photographer, Eugene, telling Angie how to pose :)

Next up, the same cardigan in Kelly Green! We especially love the multi-coloured homeware display over at Antipodean. How awesome is it that you can shop for apparel, accessories, shoes, homeware, hand cream, bags and all sorts of things within the same shop! Plus each and every piece is carefully and tastefully selected and brought in :)

And the last shade of the cardigan - Blush Pink. For the sweet and girly :)

Moved to another location to shoot the Pleats & Tiers Dress.

First up, the Pink-Red-White combination. This is simply perfect for Chinese New Year which is just round the corner :) And it’s exclusively manufactured by Cocoquettes (and we only have a handful of them in stock) so the chances of you bumping into another girl wearing the same outfit is practically zilch.

Angie and Shisi fooling around!

Shisi was especially amazed by the wonders of the reflector haha

Pleats & Tiers Dress in Navy-Pink-White. I’m loving this combination :)

Shisi was fanning Angie because it was pretty hot though from the pictures you probably can’t tell. Anyway, Angie decided to act like she was being blown away but I couldn’t really catch that in photos so these look a tad bit retarded hahah

We walked around and found this ginormous rock. Angie and I said it must be real since they had some sign near it to explain what it was.. But it turns out that it’s just some fake thing.

Oh and there was this queer old man who kept trying to creep into our photos!!! Right after this shot, he came all the way up close to Angie. As I said, Queer.

That’s all for today! See you at the actual launch tomorrow (Thurs, 5 Jan 2012) at 8pm. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!! :)

CCQ retail rack + How to get there!

Hello all,

If you’ve seen our mailer for tonight’s launch, you would know that we’re launching our first ever retail rack TODAY!!!!!!! Okay pardon the numerous exclamation marks, it’s actually very exciting for Lala and I. :)

Well anyway, the first time Lala and I went to view the shop we got a little lost because we aren’t very familiar with the Bugis Village/Street area, so I thought I’d post an entry with clearer directions on how to get there so that none of you will get lost!

1. The building in which The Blogshop Paradise (TBSP) is housed in, is called Little Red Dot and is located along Queen St.

2. The nearest “landmarks” (so to speak) are Iluma and Bugis Junction. Little Red Dot is just next to Iluma!

3. If you’re walking over from Bugis Junction (since that’s where the MRT is), you’ll have to walk through Bugis Village, all the way to the back, and that is where Little Red Dot is. (I think it’s basically a newer extension of Bugis Village.)

4. The next thing to look out for is I ♥ Taimei (the Taiwanese street snack stall) and

This sign! (Sorry for the lousy picture quality, I snapped this last night on my phone at the last minute!)

5. That Little Red Dot sign above marks the staircase which you should take up to Little Red Dot. (As you can see in the picture, it is literally just on the left of I ♥ Taimei.)

6. Take the flight of stairs up to the 2nd level, the TBSP should be quite easily located from there on! The shop is all decked out in pink and white and it’s relatively big so you won’t miss it! :)

7. TBSP will be open from 12pm to 10pm daily!

I hope this helps those of you who’re planning to make a trip down!! x

P/S: If any of you still have any questions on how to get there, feel free to email us at info@cocoquettes.com! Alternatively, I’d be happy to answer questions on my Formspring as well!

(SP12) Embellished Dreamy Toga Dress

Hi loves! It’s been a while since I’ve blogged here, but I certainly hope that the month of December is treating you well. :)

I’ve always loved December because well, it’s the end of the year (Christmas! New year! Feasting!), and also because Cocoquettes’ birthday falls on the 12th of December! Well, this year we turned 5 (just like a little toddler ;)), and we’re doing a freebie giveaway as always! The freebie giveaway is happening on our Facebook fan page right now, and you should look specifically for the Cocoquettes 5th Birthday FREEBIE Giveaway photo album to take part. :) I think the prizes up for grab this year are very attractive, so please do take part before we stop taking in entries this Friday!!

Now, on to the main point of this post! We’ll be launching a new design tomorrow, and before I show you behind-the-scenes pictures, let me tell you a little more about this dress! This design was inspired from a FCUK piece which we loved, and we liked how it was simple and elegant at the same time. The problem as with all embellished pieces though, is getting the embellishments right. Our supplier sent us some samples/pictures of embellishments, but unfortunately, they were all not satisfactory. :( (And unfortunately, or fortunately for our customers, we’re actually very picky and fussy most of the time, which I think might make our suppliers hate us sometimes haha. But it’s only because we just want to maintain high standards and give our customers the best!) SO. We went on a quest to find our OWN embellishments, and ended up ordering embellishments from elsewhere instead of getting the garment factory to do them for us. So yes, it was hard work getting this piece done so prettily, so I hope you girls will love it!

On to the pictures!

Arrival at our shoot location! (Cute wired reindeer, teehee.)

Look at the pretty embellishments! :) Oh and btw this colour is so gorgeous, it’s like a pinkish-taupe/sand/nude-ish kind of colour. But the flattering kind of nude-ish shade, not dirty nude which just looks bad. :(

Model chilling while our photographer sets up. :)

This is the other colour that the dress comes in - Periwinkle. Super gorgeous as well! I love both colours equally I can’t tell you which I prefer, but I think Periwinkle might be more suited for tan skin tones, while Puce (the nude shade) will be more suited for fairer skin tones. :)

We really liked the candy cane lamppost, so we made Angie take pictures with it!

Aaaaand it’s a wrap!

Here’s a special shoutout going out to our photographer and model for being awesome despite the very tiring shoot! Lala and I appreciate it very much. :)

I’ll see you girls at our launch tomorrow okay? :) It should probably be scheduled for 8pm, but I’ll confirm that again on Facebook and in our mailer which will be sent tomorrow.
