Cocoquettes

Charms from London!

I just received these charms yesterday :)

Now I need to find some time to make them into something lovely. Haven’t been touching my jewellery materials in ages! Hope I haven’t lost the touch for making jewellery. I actually do miss making lots and lots of jewellery but ever since I moved back to Singapore I don’t seem to have the patience nor time to sit there and make them. Oh well, I shall force myself to start and maybe then I won’t be able to stop again.

C5 Aftermath

Ooops! Was supposed to blog 15 minutes later but now it’s a few hours later. It’s amazing how little sleep I’m actually surviving on. I’ve been pushing myself to the limit but thankfully it’s paid off because we managed to launch today so if people make payment quickly I can get the items mailed out on Thursday or Friday :)

Anyway, it’s only been a few hours and the response for the self-manufactured pieces has been quite good so far. Thanks so much girls! I personally really like the self-manufactured pieces in this collection. The workmanship, colours and materials are awesome. Okay but on to colours….

Let me tell you all about the manufactured stocks for this batch.

The stocks were supposed to arrive some time between 20-27 Jan so it’d give us ample time to count the stocks and check each and every piece at a humanly pace. Then later on in January, our supplier said that the stocks might come in a little late but will definitely be in by end of Jan. So we booked the photostudio for 2 Feb because we didn’t want to push it too late because we need time to clear payments and mail out the pieces before CNY.

Okay so on 31 Jan, the stocks still hadn’t arrive. Then came 1 Feb. Our supplier didn’t know whether the stocks had arrived in Singapore till about 3-4pm and even then, she couldn’t confirm with us if it was ours that had arrived. So she only managed to check them at about 6-7pm and you have no idea how relieved I was when I saw the message that it was our stocks. Omg.

So I got the stocks at 10+pm and then when I saw the stocks, I got a shock. I didn’t really see them clearly because they were in bags but I saw Grey chiffon. And that startled me. We didn’t order anything in Grey! Yes, the Ruffle Chiffon Top and the Elie Saab Dress were supposed to come in Nude instead of Grey. It was a really pretty Nude and it would’ve looked really pretty. Our sample actually came in Nude and we were so happy with it so we were really disappointed that the bulk came in Grey. That being said, it’s still pretty! It’s just that we really loved the Nude. Okay shall stop gushing about the Nude.

Well I guess it’s not really our supplier’s fault either because China’s sort of just like that. You never get 100% what you ask for and because of the whole Chinese New Year break for them, they were rushing many orders so I guess that explains the problems we faced this time round. We had a few other issues as well but on the whole, I’m pleased with the way things turned out I guess because it could’ve been MUCH worse and we could’ve been stuck with absolutely nothing to sell like the Shortalls incident.

So since the stocks came so late last night and the photoshoot was today at 10am, I had to stay up for 6h to check the stocks and count the stocks and pack the stocks and… You get the gist. It seemed like forever! Seriously wish Shisi was back to do them with me. So then I got to sleep at about 4.30am then I had to wake up at 8.30am to get ready for the photoshoot.

After the shoot, I went for lunch with Cindy (who came along for the shoot and helped me so much, thank you thank you!!) and then got back home at about 2.30pm and started editing photos non-stop. Oh and before I started editing pics, I had to take photos of the “true colours”. And because I didn’t want to go through each picture to see if the studio lightings got the right colour, I just took “true colour” pictures for all the pieces which took me about an hour.

So it’s been about 24h of non-stop working on Cocoquettes with only 4h of sleep.

Now it’s Shisi’s time to invoice, clear payments and tally the stocks… etc! My turn to rest.

Anyway all this is just to say, we’ve really put lots of hard work into this collection and so has our supplier so I hope you girls love it lots and we’ll definitely try to improve/keep this up and bring in more manufactured pieces in the future!

Better go catch up on some sleep :(

Behind-The-Scenes of C5

Hello :)

We had a photoshoot this morning at 10am so here’s the update! I’ve got loads more to blog about but will add it in later on.. in about 15 minutes because I’m going to rush this blog entry with pictures then I’ll post Collection 5 up then send out the mailer.

So if you’re reading this and it’s a short entry, do check back in a while to read the full entry!!

BEHIND THE SCENE PICS

Angie putting on make up

Cindy (my friend) came along and helped me steam iron all the stuff! Thanks so much dear. And here’s a picture of her messaging her boyfriend or something.

Here’s a picture of me in the mirror because we were rushing and Shisi’s away so nobody was there to take proper candid pics for us. And also because I was so sleepy so I didn’t feel like taking pictures.

SELF-MANUFACTURED STOCKS FOR C5

I designed this!! It’s really pretty in reality. Like apart from the design, the material’s superb!! The colours are actually the same for both but I don’t know why the lighting was quite bad today so it kinda looks different.

Shisi and I love this dress to death. I seriously don’t think I’ve liked a dress this much in a long time! The pleats are so well done and it’s amazing :) It was supposed to be in Nude and Teal but I shall blog more about that later. So now it’s Grey and Teal but it’s still pretty nonetheless!

This turned out way better than the sample so we’re pleased with that. But again, it was supposed to be Nude and Burgundy instead of Grey. Same problem as above. Will blog about it later!

Okay that’s all for now. Do check out the latest collection at www.cocoquettes.com for loads more goodies! And since it’s Chinese New Year, we’re offering free normal postage for all items regardless of quantity (THAT’S AWESOME).

London

Haven’t been here in a while! But Lala’s been asking me to update, so here I am! :) With pictures, no less! And they’re from my trip to London yesterday. Usually I prefer to post the pictures up on my personal blog first before they actually make it to the CCQ blog, but today I somehow decided that I’ll just post them here first anyways. ;)

This is Tricia, my fellow Singaporean at school here. She’s the only other NUS person who’s here on exchange with me to Royal Holloway!

And on the right is Bess, Tricia’s friend, whom we met up with in London yesterday!

We visited the Marble Arch… (We look so minute here!)

Where there was this incredibly cute toddler stumbling around! Not running/walking, because toddlers don’t quite walk/run properly just yet!

And I had a Krispy Kreme at the end of the night! It’s been a while since I last had one. :)

That’s it for the pictures! Our new manufactured stocks arrived today too, just in time for the photoshoot which is tomorrow morning! My heart and brain almost died because we had problems with this batch of stocks AGAIN. No worries, it’s not defects or anything. And even if there were defects, we wouldn’t sell the pieces so do be assured that we won’t let our problems affect our customers! (Omg the defects thing is a painful reminder of our shortalls.) And on the shortalls - we made these really cute pair of shortalls, like overalls, but shorts, really great for school! We even did two samples of it, just to perfect it. But I have noooooo idea how the factory suddenly screwed it up for us! :( And because we really refuse to settle for the defected stock, we returned the WHOLE batch of stock to our supplier. :( I really did look forward to keeping one piece for myself, and they were actually really nice. :(

With this batch, there was quite a bit of a emotional rollercoaster again. But I’ll probably let Lala blog about that since now she’s the one handling the stuff going on in Singapore and she probably suffered more than I did. :( I almost feel like one day we’re going to get a heart attack from receiving our manufactured stocks. The problem is just that we never seem to get 100% what we asked for, and they just somehow never seem to be perfect. But oh well, I guess we’ve just got to learn from these experiences.

Hope the photoshoot tomorrow goes well! :) Our CNY clothing collection will probably be up either on the 2nd or the 4th of Feb. But if you’re on our mailing list, you’ll definitely get an email to notify you when we’ve launched! But it basically depends on how quickly we can rush out the photoshopping and all. We’ve got one reallyyyyyy pretty Elie Saab inspired manufactured piece that Lala and I both love to death! And a CCQ designed piece with fabulous cutting and fabric as well as an ASOS inspired top. :) All great for CNY and Valentine’s day! And that’s just the manufactured pieces. We’ve got other stuff in store for you in the collection too, so do keep a lookout for it! :)

Now I’d better get to my readings. :(
